We are so glad you want to guide with us! Follow the below steps to make sure you are prepared and ready to guide your first group! ✨
This will take ~45 minutes and includes a video training that will explain what guides are expected to do!
Step 2: Setup the required apps & accounts 📱
You need to have a smartphone with the following apps downloaded:
- RealRoots app → Used for the group chat for your Meet and Greet and series groups
- We just launched this app so right now there is not a guide-specific view of the app and it will look the same as for a user
- PayPal/Venmo → We pay weekly via PayPal or Venmo (you can choose which one in onboarding)
- Heylo → We use this platform for the Guide-only chat so you can meet other guides in your city. You should have been emailed a link to your group when you joined, if not please email [email protected]

Downloading an app like Tab or Splitwise can make splitting the bill for meals much easier (RealRoots does not cover meals at any of our events)! Read more on splitting the bill at series events here. At the Meet and Greet, we cover 1 drink per person so you won’t need to worry about splitting that bill.
Step 4: Review the below expectations and the rest of our Guide Help Center 🧐
Conduct
- You need to be ready to create an inclusive space for ALL women (cis women and trans women), and women from all backgrounds, races, ability levels, and cultures.
- If you are guiding a queer group, then you’ll be creating an inclusive space for all queer women, trans people, and nonbinary folks. Please review our guide to do so here.
- You need to be 21+ and carry a valid form of identification on nights at which the venue serves alcohol (they may deny entry otherwise).
- You need to guide your group using the conversation prompts + agendas we send you. It is your responsibility to ensure that everyone is being included in the group + nobody is dominating the conversation!
