• Sub guide
  • Sub guides get paid $10 to be “on call” to sub guide a RealRoots experience (aka you earn $10 if you don’t get called in). If you get called in, you’ll get paid the normal rate for guiding + dinner credit as well.
  • You cannot sign up to sub guide if you are working another shift that day and cannot sign up to sub guide in multiple cities on the same day (ex. sub guiding in both Upper and Lower Manhattan on the same date)
• Lead guide
  • If you're interested in lead guiding with us, please reach out to [email protected]! Lead guides are paid $50 to work 1 hour only the day of the Meet and Greet. They check in with the venue, take attendance, and act as an emergency sub guide if a guide at the Meet and Greet no shows (in which case you will stay until the end of the event + be paid extra for guiding a group)
  • You cannot sign up to lead guide + guide a group on the same date!

If you need to cancel any shifts, you can do so directly on the app by clicking on that shift and “Cancel this gig”.

Guide openings are first come, first serve so there may be none available in your city. You can always keep checking the form for new shifts and we’ll also email you with new dates for openings that we think you’re suited for. You can choose to sign up for those dates or any other date that you see available.

You’re able to sign up for as many shifts as you would like as long as they do not conflict (ex. you can sign up for a Tuesday series + a Wednesday series running at the same time).

Meet and Greet shifts open up 30 days before the Meet and Greet date. If you’re interested in seeing what Meet and Greets are scheduled before they become available to sign up for, you can view all the upcoming scheduled M&G’s on our website here.

Remember, you can only sign up for M&G’s that:

• Either match your identity group (ex. you identify as Queer to lead a Queer group) OR if you’re within +/- 4 years of any general group age range (ex. If you are 39, you can guide a 26-35 group)
• You’re available for the entire series.

So much of RealRoots is based on deep conversations based on shared life experiences, so it’s important that the guide also shows up in the same way as the participants. The women in the group bond with one another as well as with you so we ask that you can be there for all the series dates when signing up.
